“Tiger Plays with Ball”

I found this old ivory shoe horn in an antique shop. I watch for old pieces needing repair that are able to be recycled for new use. I have been practicing Qigong (Chee-Kung) and Tai Chi since about 2000. The beautiful descriptions of the movements have inspired several of my scrimshaw designs including this one. In Qigong the exercise called “Tiger Plays with Ball” is intended to slow your breath and relax your heart rate. This mother tiger takes it a step further to embrace her new found balance and let the kids take care of themselves for a bit.  In 2006, it won “Best Color Wildlife” at the Mystic International Scrimshaw Competition. 4”overall
