"Grizzly Bear with Maggie & Jack Art
Piece”
This grizzly bear looks at home, scrimshawed
on a fossil walrus ivory artifact that would have been used as
an ice ax. In a small polished area on the back are two birds,
a Magpie and a Whisky Jack (gray jay), both used to hang around
the hunting camp where Linda played in Alaska as camp cook, they
helped keep the place clean by carrying off the meat scraps.
The artifact is 2 ¼” wide and 7 ¼”tall.
The base is made of black walnut with studded
copper accents.
